The Zócalo also has several cafes and restaurants, a few shops, two low-budget hotels, and an ice cream parlor.
Many residents come here to relax, read a newspaper or book, and people watch. This is also the main center to make your shoes shine.
If your body survives the challenges of Acapulco’s hectic nightlife, take it to the Zócalo to rest. Feed the pigeons, just like they do in the park. Just behind the cathedral you will find the oldest neighborhoods in Acapulco where wealthy merchants built their homes.
There are also some jewelry and other shops nearby and one can easily walk from the Zocalo to other tourist attractions – the traditional Acapulco. El Parazol Market, the Malecón, the divers and the Marina. Several traditional Mexican restaurants and a good selection of budget hotels are within a few blocks.
