Coyuca Lagoon Acapulco
Pie de la Cuesta is an area that extends for several kilometers on the northwest coast of Acapulco. On one side it offers a show with strong waves coming from the Pacific Ocean, and on the other side comes the calm of the Coyuca Lagoon.
Thanks to its location and tropical ecosystem that characterizes it, this place offers beautiful views of its mangroves and exuberant nature. The lagoon protects more than 250 species of birds and 14 species of edible fish.
The Coyuca lagoon originates at the mouth of the river of the same name and is 17 km long, 8 km wide and a maximum depth of 7 m.
Coyuca Lagoon turns out to be the perfect getaway from the continuous hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy a quiet day where you can take a boat ride, water ski, fish or just walk around the area.
In this area there are two islands: Montoya Island and Bird Island, home to different species of birds that migrate from Canada every year.
Due to its wildlife and unique environment, the Coyuca Lagoon has also served as a magnificent setting for filming; for example, the movie Rambo II, with Sylvester Stallone, although in the plot the place was Vietnam.
